2025 in Review: Looking Back and Moving Forward
Looking Back: Figuring Things Out
2025 was a year of figuring things out. We set out to build a tool for interactive maps and listings - for tourism, real estate, and basically anyone with location data to visualize on a map with a list.
As we shipped more features (data imports, APIs, and full control over filters, markers, and layouts), we realised we had built a powerful and flexible platform.
But what we hadn't built, was a solution to a problem.
Our first customer, Fijnopvakantie.nl, helped us focus. They needed a map for their holiday homes, that integrated with their website and PMS, with dynamic pricing and real-time availability filtering. We made sure Mapsemble could do all of that, and luckily, they were happy with the result:
"With Mapsemble we have seen a clear improvement in user engagement and conversions. The tool's usability and speed are truly top‑notch!"
It became the perfect use case to demonstrate the power and flexibility of Mapsemble. But that flexibility, it turns out, was also a weak spot. As organic traffic grew, we saw more and more users trying out the app and spending time fiddling with the options. They weren't getting results quickly enough to stay. (If you're one of those users, we'd love to hear about your use case.)
Looking Forward: Finding Product-Market Fit
In 2026, we will keep on trying to figure out how to be of most value to our customers, without overwhelming them with features that they don't need.
That's why we're shifting from flexibility first to solution first.
Introducing Starter Kits
In order to get closer to providing actual solutions, we are working on Starter Kits. Starter kits are pre-configured templates for common use cases, such as:
- Holiday rentals (Example)
- Real estate Listings (Coming soon)
- Store Locators (Coming soon)
- People Directory (Coming soon)
It will be possible to build and publish maps from Starter Kits for free — no credit card required. This lets anyone get a real, working map live in minutes.
Upgrade only when you need to:
- Pro Plan: Customize your map by changing filters, markers, fields and styling.
- Enterprise Plan: Configure remote filtering and PMS integrations.
Building Bridges
Another thing we want to double down on is "integrations". We've seen how integrations drive adoption, as some of our customers came through Drupal. Now we're looking to build more integrations with CMS and no-code website builders, with the Mapsemble Framer plugin launching in the next couple of weeks.
We're at the start of a decisive year, where we hopefully find ways to grow and align better with our customers.
If you've been following along, thank you. If you know anyone who might benefit from Mapsemble, please share this post.

Here's to building maps that matter in 2026.
