Customer story
Since 2010, Bijzonderplekje.nl has hand-picked special places to stay, eat and visit across twenty European countries. With Mapsemble, visitors explore that collection on a fully branded interactive map — powered by their own data.
The map on bijzonderplekje.nl: search, cards and markers in their own house style. See it live
A hand-picked collection of hundreds of places across twenty countries is impossible to browse as one long list. The first question every visitor asks is "where is it, and what is nearby?" — but the answer was buried in category pages.
A generic map embed could not match the Bijzonderplekje brand, stay in sync with their own listings database, or offer the browsing experience visitors expect from a modern travel site.
Bijzonderplekje.nl connected Mapsemble directly to their own listings database. The map stays in sync automatically — new places appear, changed details update, no manual work.
Visitors now search the map by town or region and start from where they want to be. Cards and popups are rendered in Bijzonderplekje's own design, so the map feels like a native part of the website instead of a third-party widget.
Bijzonderplekje.nl is a busy site: more than ten thousand visitors a day, and many times that in map views once people start panning, zooming and opening places. On a map platform that bills per view, that traffic is the invoice — and it peaks in exactly the months the season does.
Mapsemble charges one flat monthly fee. Map views are unlimited and unmetered, so a record summer costs the same as a quiet November. The map has a fixed line in the budget instead of a number nobody can predict.
“Mapsemble collaborated with our development team to create the best possible integration. With visitors in the 10k per day range, we are very happy with the flat fee Mapsemble offers.”
